Family photos are always the perfect gift idea for Moms. As Moms. we have more bubble bath, scented candles, and small kitchen appliances than we know what to do with. Plus we are also so busy running around with our kids, sometimes life passes by with a blur and it feels like time has sped up and our children have grown before our eyes.
Little kids turn into big kids, and often at some point during that transition as parents we stop scheduling family photos on a regular basis. It is a natural transition, one that I personally find myself in the midst of too. As parents of ‘big kids’, we go from someone who is responsible for taking care of all the little things for our children; liking bathing, feeding and getting them dressed, to someone whom might slightly resemble more of an Uber driver. Dropping kids off at the movies with friends, hockey practice, art lessons. It’s a different type of busy, with constantly full schedules that we are juggling, and kids that are searching out their own independence. Somehow that seems to make time pass even faster. Before you know it, the kids are big and you haven’t had portraits of them done in years. In fact, sometimes it reaches a point, where our own grownup children realize they haven’t had photos done since they were little! Like Melissa then, they are the ones organize a family photo session as a gift for their Mom, realizing the importance.
The gift of family photos is by far one of the sweetest gifts you can ever give your Mom, especially if you are looking for the perfect holiday gift this Christmas season.

The way she smiles while he makes her laughs. How he looks at her and holds her in his embrace. Those tiny moments, that’s what I see, that’s what I photograph. Two people in love. Preparing to embark on an adventure of a lifetime together, hand in hand.
When you get the opportunity to photograph clients year-after-year, and you get to watch their children grow, and they become friends….as a photographer nothing means more. I honestly can’t put into words what it means, so I’ll just share some of my favourite photos from one of our sessions together.
These two adorable brothers are so lucky to grow up adventuring together! The memories they will share, and the trouble I’m sure they will getin to together! I always smile because photographing brothers is so different than photographing little girls. Little boys are always up for running, throwing rocks, wrestling, and piggyback rides. They need room too explore and get a little dirty sometimes, and I love standing back and watching the memories unfold in front of my camera lens as I document it. Nothing warms my heart more, as I think of how much their Mom will enjoy looking back at these photos after they have grown up and are not so little anymore.
Simple, classic and filled to the brim with love. Studio portraits designed for the family who is looking for a simpler, shorter portrait session, compared to a full lifestyle family session. I’m excited to announce that the Simply Studio sessions will be launching in 2018! Stay tuned for more details coming soon.
Last night I sat in my office, with my homemade chai-eggnog latte and listened to Michael Buble’s Christmas album. I was putting the finishing touches on Luca’s gallery from the perfect snowy winter photo session, getting ready to send it off to him Mom. It was then that it dawned on me, that I had yet to blog this session from last fall! Photographer fail! It’s a good thing I’m not just a blogger, but first and foremost a photographer, as despite all my attempts, I’m always behind on blogging. So without further adieu, here is little Luca from last year! Stay tuned to Instagram and Facebook too soon see a sneak peek at his session from this year! Trust me you don’t want to miss that one! Because somehow his eyelashes are even more amazing now! Right from when he was a newborn he has had the most incredible eyelashes!
Sleep now little girl, for tomorrow you will be a busy toddler running around exploring, and your Mommy will be busy extra busy chasing after you! It always happens before you know it, and these little newborn babies change so fast. It is one of the reason, there is something so incredibly timeless and special about newborn portraits. Sometimes during that first couple of sleep-deprived weeks of life with a newborn, it can be hard to think about being in photos with your newborn, or even getting them done in the first place. But I can promise you, it is something you will not regret as the years’ pass. Especially, for you as a new mom to be in the photos too. Never again will your new baby be that tiny, or that curly. Those are the days you want to remember and look back on.
Each mini session will receive a gorgeous complimentary photo keepsake ornament, either metal or a wood frame, with the image of your choice as my Holiday gift to you! Samples will be available for you to see during your mini session.
Optional packages are available for purchase after your session, to help take the stress out of the holiday season. With additional digital files, personalized gifts for that special family member on your list, as well as holiday cards are taken care of!
Spaces are limited, book your session now before they are gone!
